Confident managers, fewer people problems
Most people problems are managed, or not managed, by line managers. Yet many managers are promoted for being good at their job, not for managing people, and have never been shown how to hold a difficult conversation, manage absence or run a fair disciplinary process.
Sapphire's training gives managers practical skills they can use the next day. Sessions are interactive, built around situations your managers will recognise, and focused on what to say and do, not just the theory.
Training for managers
Popular topics include:
- Handling difficult conversations: raising concerns early, fairly and with confidence. Our free guide to difficult conversations gives a flavour of the approach.
- Managing absence and performance: return-to-work interviews, patterns of absence, and supporting improvement.
- Disciplinary and grievance procedures: a manager's role in investigations and hearings, and how to keep a process fair.
- Equality, diversity and inclusion: fair decisions, reasonable adjustments and an inclusive culture.
- Mental health awareness: recognising when someone may be struggling and how to respond.
Tailored workshops
Every organisation is different, so training is tailored to your policies, sector and priorities. We can run a one-off workshop on a specific topic or a short programme for new and developing managers.
Why training pays back
Confident managers deal with issues earlier, more consistently and with less risk. That means fewer formal processes, better retention and more time spent running the business. With unfair dismissal protection extending to employees with six months' service from January 2027, well-prepared managers matter more than ever.
Training is delivered onsite or online. Sapphire is based in Derbyshire and works with organisations across the Midlands and the UK.
