Cookies and preferences
Your choice about analytics.
Optional analytics stays off until you choose to accept it. You can reject it or change your preference here at any time.
This list reflects the planned Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set-up. It will be confirmed against the final tag container.
What we use and why
Google Analytics counts visits and shows which pages and guides are useful, using aggregated statistics. Microsoft Clarity shows how people move around a page, through heatmaps and session recordings, so we can spot pages that are confusing. Clarity is set to mask all text and anything typed into forms, so it does not capture what you write.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
sapphire-analytics-choice | This site (local storage) | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics | 180 days |
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visits to produce usage statistics | Up to 2 years |
_clck | Microsoft Clarity | Recognises a returning browser across visits | 1 year |
_clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Joins the pages of one visit into a single session | 1 day |
CLID, MUID and related | Microsoft (clarity.ms) | Set by Microsoft to identify Clarity sessions | Up to 1 year |
Only the first row is used if you reject analytics or make no choice. Fonts and images are served from this site, and no Google or Microsoft code is requested until you accept.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time on this page, using the link in the footer. If you reject analytics after accepting it, the page reloads to stop it and removes the Google Analytics and Clarity cookies set on this site. Cookies set by Microsoft on its own domain expire on their own, or you can clear them in your browser settings.
